Atlanta Animal Welfare Committee

The Atlanta Animal Welfare Committee is a 501 (c) 3 organization currently serving the neighborhoods of Kirkwood, East Atlanta and Oakhurst.

We do not claim to be a rescue organization since we simply do not have the means to manage such an undertaking. But what we strive to do is assist the community by providing information, resources and support. Additionally, we are constantly working to lessen the rampant stray issue by providing on going spay/neuter clinics. The long term goal is to lessen the burden on our existing shelters by providing community and animal assistance before the shelters even get involved.

Our group has worked diligently and has accomplished a great deal in a short time to help our furry residents. Ongoing efforts by the AWC’s include monitoring proper treatment of all pets in the neighborhood, educating pet owners and working to rescue, foster, adopt out or trap-fix-release strays in the area.

Our web site lists AWC information, including resources for people who have questions about responsible pet care, a form for those who want to report suspected neglect and/or abuse, forms for those who are interested in fostering and links to other rescue and animal groups, both local and national.
